With the aim of strengthening ties with the student community and enhancing knowledge about the logistics system of the Port of Iquique, a new session of the 'Live Your Port' campaign was held. On this occasion, the terminal welcomed a delegation of fourth-year administration students from the emblematic English School of Iquique.
During the visit, the young people delved into the strategic role of the Port of Iquique, not only as a key player in the present but also as the axis of major challenges that will transform the Tarapacá Region.
The technical talk highlighted the importance for new generations to understand the value of port infrastructure in high-demand scenarios, such as the opening of maritime cabotage and the consolidation of the Bioceanic Road Corridor, initiatives that will position Iquique as a world-class logistics hub.
Furthermore, the impact of the development of new mining projects in the northern zone and the reactivation of the Bolivian market, the port's main client, were addressed. These factors project a potential increase in cargo transfer and, consequently, in the creation of job opportunities for future administration and logistics professionals.
Valentín Rebolledo, a student, valued the experience, stating that "the experience we had with my classmates was very nice. They gave us a talk about what the port is and its origin, since as an Iquiqueño it is important to know that some things we buy come from the port, for example, goods from Zofri. The talk was very nice, and the welcome was very pleasant. I recommend it 100%."
This initiative, which seeks to reduce the gap between the educational and professional worlds, was the result of coordinated work by the academic team of the English School, comprising Dennise Garrido and Marcela Leiva, along with the collaboration of Red Futuro Técnico de Tarapacá, a program promoted by the Ministry of Education and executed by the consulting firm Conexium.
