As part of community engagement actions, a kayak and diving event was held in Huichas Islands, an initiative organized by the Tourism Unit of the Municipality of Aysén, along with various collaborating entities, and supported logistically by the Empresa Portuaria Chacabuco (Emporcha). The event highlighted natural spaces through sports experiences in direct contact with the environment.
David Coloane, in charge of Emporcha's Connectivity Ramp in Puerto Aguirre, participated in the event and commented that "the company's contribution to this initiative was the provision of facilities. This was to streamline the development of the activity, allowing athletes and participants to leave their equipment, kayaks, boats, among others."
The day included a sea journey with 38 attendees, who covered 18 kilometers between the main island and Julián Island, completing a round trip circuit that stood out for its scenic conditions and fostered direct interaction with the coastal landscape and its geographical diversity.
In parallel, guided dives were conducted with the participation of 12 people, who gained access to a detailed observation of the local underwater ecosystem, characterized by the presence of kelp forests, diverse marine fauna, and habitats that show a high level of ecological conservation.
The event demonstrated the value of collaboration between public and private organizations to promote initiatives that drive sustainable tourism, encourage outdoor sports, and strengthen the link between strategic infrastructure and territorial development in southern regions.
