Errors in Customs: Operators Can Pay a Fine Instead of Losing Merchandise
The Government of Peru modified the Regulations of the General Customs Law and the Table of Sanctions through Supreme Decree N.º 076-2026-EF. Operators will be able to substitute the confiscation of merchandise with the payment of a fine in cases of errors in the cargo manifest related to international transit or transshipment, provided they meet specific conditions and within a ten-day period. The regulation also simplifies logistical procedures and encourages voluntary rectifications.
