Talcahuano Port Terminal (TTP) carried out its second scrap metal shipment of 2026. On this occasion, 27 thousand tons of ferrous waste, linked to Grupo Lampa, were loaded aboard a bulk carrier flying the Marshall Islands flag for transport to Mexico.
"At Berth N°1 of our terminal, work was carried out to load the holds of the MDS Artemis, which is now sailing towards the northern hemisphere, after a stop in Peru," reported the concessionaire of Puertos de Talcahuano.
"We appreciate the trust placed in Talcahuano Port Terminal and in the capacity of our team of collaborators to manage this type of cargo, which has opened a new export market for the country," they added.
The first shipment of the year for this segment took place three months ago, consisting of 26,500 tons of cargo linked to Grupo Lampa and destined for Peru. The operation achieved a productivity milestone by registering an average loading rate of 4,400 tons per day.
It is worth noting that, during 2025, TTP handled a total of 617,404 tons of cargo. Of this volume, 485,221 tons were operated at Berth N°1 through the service of 51 commercial vessels, highlighting that 74,343 tons corresponded to scrap metal shipments.
