The Indian company NinjaCart announced it will increase its imports of Chilean fresh produce, projecting a tenfold increase to nearly USD 5 million. The announcement was made during a visit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francisco Pérez Mackenna, and the Undersecretary of International Economic Relations, Paula Estévez, to the country to promote opportunities in science and technology.
"India is one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing markets in the world, so this is an encouraging milestone for what's to come. We are creating the conditions for more companies to seek to increase their business with our country, and in that sense, I want to especially highlight the work carried out by ProChile," said the Secretary of State.
For her part, the Undersecretary of International Economic Relations highlighted the news as "a very positive sign that demonstrates the potential to continue strengthening the economic relationship between Chile and India in areas of innovation, technology, and logistics applied to productive sectors. Furthermore, it reflects that joint work between the public and private sectors can open new investment opportunities and generate greater added value for our export sector."
The authorities also visited QpiAI, a company dedicated to the development of artificial intelligence, which has the largest quantum computer operating in Bangalore and is used for business and scientific applications. This company focuses on the analysis, modeling, and automation of business processes in various productive sectors.
Likewise, they met with representatives of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), an initiative of the Department of Biotechnology of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Government of India. This organization operates as an innovation hub, providing advanced infrastructure, as well as promoting incubation programs and support in technology transfer, driving solutions in the health, agriculture, and environment sectors.
Approaching India's Technological Engine
The Foreign Minister and the Undersecretary also held discussions with the Minister for Electronics, IT, and Biotechnology of the Government of Karnataka, Priyank M. Kharge, with whom they addressed possibilities for collaboration in digital economy, artificial intelligence, and digital infrastructure.
"We see a concrete opportunity for cooperation with India as we have one of the most advanced digital connectivity ecosystems in Latin America, a solid renewable energy matrix, and a clear framework of public policies for artificial intelligence and data centers. With these conditions, we can position Chile as a strategic platform to attract investment to our continent," concluded the Secretary of State.
Bangalore is recognized as one of the most important global innovation centers in the world and hosts the largest concentration of IT-related companies, research, and technological development centers in India.
