Two commercial vessels were reportedly attacked by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on 6–7 July according to Wall Street Journal. One of the vessels caught fire and sustained damage in the attack .

At least two missiles were reportedly fired at vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Organisation (UKMTO) reported that at 21:19 UTC on 6 July, a tanker approximately 8 nautical miles off Limah was struck on its port side by an unidentified projectile, triggering a fire on board.
The Wall Street Journal, stated that the IRGC had issued radio warnings to the vessels, stating: "Our missiles and drones are ready to fire at you," according to a recording obtained from one of the ships.
One of the targeted vessels appears to be the Al Rekayyat, a Qatar Gas Transport Company LNG tanker. The company operates one of the world's largest LNG fleets. According to the Wall Street Journal, the vessel was near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz when it was attacked.
Al Rekayyat is a LNG tanker sailing under the flag of Marshall Islands. The vessel measures 315.16 meters in length and 50 meters in width.
