The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has issued a ban on the bulk carrier FPMC B Forever, marking the third such ban in two months.

The latest ban relates to the vessel FPMC B Forever. During an inspection on 23 May in Newcastle, AMSA found that the crew had been underpaid by AUD $15,000 (approximately US$10,800). Crew members were also being charged for potable water, which must be provided free of charge under maritime regulations.
As a result, AMSA detained the vessel and imposed a ban preventing it from entering Australian waters until 4 October this year.
AMSA officials stated that the core issue was a breach of the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), stemming from the failure to provide timely payment of wages and proper living and working conditions for seafarers.
AMSA has urged vessel operators not to skirt the law and risk a ban, warning that the financial consequences far outweigh any short-term gains. Operators denied access to Australian waters and ports can face millions of dollars in lost revenue, along with major supply chain disruptions and increased scrutiny during future inspections.
