The Santurtzi City Council (Spain) and the Port Authority of Bilbao (APB) renewed their collaboration agreement. The agreement will allow for an investment of 4 million euros for the improvement of port and urban spaces.
Details of the agreement were provided on the APB website, stating that "the agreement foresees an annual investment of one million euros to develop actions related to the improvement of the urban environment, accessibility, and public access to the waterfront, thus consolidating the close collaboration between the port and the city council."
In this regard, the Mayor of Santurtzi, Itziar Carroecera, highlighted that "this is very good news for Santurtzi. The renewal of this agreement will allow us to continue investing in projects that improve the quality of life of our residents, also strengthening the historical connection that our municipality maintains with the sea."
"Thanks to this collaboration, we will be able to continue advancing in actions that make Santurtzi a more accessible, friendlier municipality with better public services. We are talking about new promenades, improvements in pedestrian and cyclist mobility, accessibility actions, or urban equipment that contribute to building a community and generating spaces for coexistence for all citizens," added the mayor.
Meanwhile, Iván Jiménez, president of the APB, indicated that "the renewal of this agreement reaffirms the Port's constant commitment to Santurtzi and to the improvement of the spaces we share with the public. The collaboration between both institutions has proven to be an effective tool to promote projects that generate social value, improve accessibility, and favor the integration of the port environment into the daily life of the municipality. We will continue to work together to develop actions that contribute to the well-being of residents and the sustainable development of our environment," he concluded.
