APV Reuses Sagunto Port Dredging Material for Beach Regeneration

The Port Authority of Valencia (APV) is participating in the improvement and protection of the coastline around El Grau Vell beach, located in the Marjal del Moros of Sagunto. Valenciaport and the Valencia Coastal Demarcation are working together on the regeneration of this area, which is a protected space integrated into the Natura 2000 Network, using dredged material from the Port of Sagunto.

Following the characterization by the APV of materials to be dredged in Sagunto, the resulting report was brought to the attention of the Valencia Coastal Demarcation (DCV), the competent authority in the matter, which requested the APV to allocate a portion of the characterized material for beach nourishment.

In this regard, the APV is working on contracting a technical assistance service that will provide all guarantees, both in the environmental procedures and permits required for this type of coastal action, and in the drafting of the construction project for the dredging, transport, and regeneration of the beach.

Valenciaport committed to carrying out the necessary procedures and works for the dredging, transport, and placement of the materials extracted from the Port of Sagunto. The objective is the regeneration of the southern section of El Grau Vell beach, which has an approximate length of 1.2 kilometers.

This initiative reflects the APV's commitment to sustainable coastal management and active collaboration between administrations to protect sensitive natural spaces and promote solutions that enhance the resilience of the coastal environment.
