Ecuador and Japan will strengthen their economic relationship through the creation of the Economic and Commercial Committee, whose memorandum of understanding will be signed on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 16, in Quito, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This initiative represents a preliminary step towards negotiating a possible bilateral trade agreement, aimed at expanding cooperation and exchange between both countries.
The event will be attended by authorities from Ecuador and Japan, who will formalize this dialogue mechanism to promote issues related to trade, investments, and economic cooperation. Currently, the commercial relationship includes Ecuadorian exports of products such as shrimp, broccoli, bananas, and cocoa to the Japanese market, as well as the import of industrial and technological goods.
The creation of the committee will strengthen the commercial connection with a strategic Asian market and generate new opportunities for national exportable goods. This advancement favors the expansion of trade flows, maritime and logistical connectivity, and Ecuador's participation in international supply chains.
