Peru's export basket reaches almost 400 million consumers worldwide, highlighted the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Rogers Valencia, after participating in the inauguration of the Expo Perú Seafood 2026 International Business Roundtable.
He stated that Peru has become an exporting country in the last 20 years.
"Before, we were exporters of traditional products, basically commodities. Today, our export basket reaches almost 400 million consumers worldwide. And that is thanks to the effort of the private sector, accompanied by a state that transforms itself and becomes a promoter of exports," emphasized Minister Valencia.
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) and the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PromPerú) inaugurated in Piura the Expo Perú Seafood 2026 International Business Roundtable, a platform that connects Peru's exportable supply of hydrobiological products with buyers from the main international markets.
The event brought together 26 exporting companies from Piura, Tumbes, Lima, Tacna, and Moquegua with 15 international buyers from 10 strategic markets: Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, the United States, Thailand, Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Canada, and Uruguay.
The business roundtable has a commercial expectation of US$17 million for the next 12 months and seeks to generate new opportunities for fishing and aquaculture companies, strengthen their internationalization, and position Peru as a reliable supplier of high-quality hydrobiological products.
The activity was led by Minister Rogers Valencia, who highlighted the growth and transformation of Peru's exportable supply.
During the day, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tour of the negotiation tables were held, where Peruvian companies presented their offerings to potential international buyers.
As part of the agenda, on August 14, buyers will visit exporting plants in Paita, where they will learn firsthand about their production capacities, industrial processes, and quality standards.
As part of his work agenda in Piura, Minister Rogers Valencia arrived in Sullana, where he granted the license to use the Peru Brand to Agroexportaciones Nor Perú S.A.C. – AGRONORPERÚ, a company dedicated to the production, commercialization, and export of organic bananas and Tahiti limes.
With the support of Mincetur, through PromPerú, the Piura-based company participated in Expo Perú Norte, Expo Perú Sur, and the trade mission to the CPMA (Canadian Produce Marketing Association) in Canada, experiences that helped expand its network of buyers and diversify its international markets.
The granting of the Peru Brand recognizes AGRONORPERÚ's commitment to promoting Peruvian offerings and reaffirms Piura's potential as a strategic region for national exports.
It is important to note that during his working visit, Minister Rogers Valencia also held work meetings with representatives of the National Aquaculture Society (SNA) and the Peruvian Association of Mango Producers and Exporters (APEM), with the participation of PromPerú's executive president, Teresa Mera.
During both meetings, the perspectives of the aquaculture and agro-export chains were analyzed, as well as the challenges posed by the upcoming El Niño phenomenon.
Minister Rogers Valencia reaffirmed that Mincetur is an ally of the productive sector and highlighted the work of this institution and PromPerú in supporting companies in international promotion, the search for new markets, and the strengthening of their exports.
