Petroperú has completed the offshore construction phase of the Multibuoy Terminal II – Talara Refinery project. The work includes maritime and terrestrial components to strengthen the infrastructure for crude oil reception and residual dispatch. With the conclusion of the offshore works, the execution of the planned onshore facilities continues as part of the integral development of this new infrastructure.
The completion of this stage was highlighted during a ceremony held at the Talara Refinery, which was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Petroperú, Edmundo Lizarzaburu Bolaños; members of the Board; the General Manager, Gustavo Villa Mora; local authorities and representatives of the PSAMPO-PSAMP Consortium, the company responsible for the execution of the offshore works.
The project includes the construction and installation of the necessary infrastructure for crude oil reception and residual dispatch through a new multibuoy terminal. To this end, it is developed in two components: the offshore, which comprises the works executed at sea, and the onshore, corresponding to the facilities being built on land and which, together, will form the new transfer system between vessels and the refinery.
Thanks to this new maritime infrastructure, Multibuoy Terminal II will allow expanding the service capacity from vessels to ships of approximately 150,000 deadweight tons (DWT), corresponding to the Aframax and Suezmax categories, used for the transport of large volumes of oil. This will allow the reception of up to one million barrels of crude oil, guaranteeing a safe and efficient transfer from large-capacity vessels to the Talara Refinery and strengthening the reliability of crude oil supply.
Multibuoy Terminal II has the main authorizations required for its construction, including the Right to Use Aquatic Area, Port Authorization, Technical and Aquatic Area Feasibility, Archaeological Monitoring Plan, Design Manual, Construction Authorization, and the methodologically approved maneuver study. While the onshore component works are being executed, Petroperú continues to manage the final authorizations that will allow the future commissioning of this infrastructure.
