Geodis is strengthening its road transport capacity in Italy with the addition of new-generation CO2 tankers, designed to improve safety, operational efficiency, and reduce carbon emissions. This investment reflects the holding company's ongoing commitment to offering innovative and reliable logistics solutions for the industrial gas sector.
The company has deployed two new CO2 tankers for its road transport operations in Italy, based in Cormano. These vehicles will facilitate the transport of industrial gases throughout Italy and Europe, offering customers greater operational flexibility and service reliability.
Currently, Geodis operates a fleet of 20 CO2 tankers and plans to continue modernizing and expanding its capacity based on market developments.
The new tankers incorporate a series of advanced safety technologies, including anti-rollover systems; ABS/EBS braking systems; automatic semi-trailer braking during reverse maneuvers near obstacles; automatic braking when the rear door is open during unloading; and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Together, these features further enhance the safety of drivers, operators, and customers during all transport operations.
Equipped with state-of-the-art rolling and cryogenic components, the tankers require less maintenance, increasing vehicle availability and operational efficiency. Their optimized design also allows for greater payload capacity while reducing tare weight, which facilitates the transport of more product per trip, improves route efficiency, and contributes to lower fuel consumption and reduced carbon intensity.
This deployment further reinforces Geodis' expertise in the transport of industrial gases and supports the company's ambition to continuously modernize its fleet in line with evolving customer needs and market expectations.
Marc Vollet, Executive Vice President of Geodis Group's European Road Network, stated that "at Geodis, innovation and operational excellence go hand in hand. The deployment of these state-of-the-art CO2 tankers demonstrates our commitment to continuously improving the safety, efficiency, and environmental performance of our transport solutions."
"By investing in modern equipment and advanced technologies, we strengthen our ability to support customers in the industrial gas sector, while preparing for the future of road transport," Vollet concluded.
