Maritime hydrocarbon traffic through the Strait of Hormuz began a progressive recovery after Iran lifted its effective blockade of this strategic route following a temporary ceasefire agreement with the United States. The reopening once again allows the transit of oil and gas tankers through one of the main energy corridors of global trade.
In recent days, maritime sector data recorded the passage of several crude oil and liquefied natural gas tankers, including large capacity vessels bound for Asian markets. Although transit levels are still below those recorded before the tensions, international operators identify a favorable trend in the normalization of operations.
The recovery of maritime flow through Hormuz represents a relevant factor for the stability of global energy supply chains and international trade. The continuity of this strategic route will strengthen maritime connectivity, reduce uncertainties for hydrocarbon transport, and maintain the operability of shipping routes linked to global energy supply.
