US Emergency Oil Reserve Shipment Heads to Asia
A crude oil shipment from the United States' Strategic Petroleum Reserve is heading to the Philippines, marking the first delivery to Asia since November 2022. The supertanker Arosa, chartered by Shell, loaded 616,000 barrels of sour crude from Bryan Mound in Texas in early May and is scheduled to arrive in Bataan, Philippines, in early July. This shipment is in response to the Philippines' efforts to diversify its energy sources amidst a shortage of barrels from the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
