The world's largest battery-electric ship will arrive in South America in September, after beginning its journey from Tasmania aboard the heavy-lift vessel Black Marlin.
According to Incat Tasmania, the designer and builder of the vessel, the voyage is expected to take 40 days. Information available on the maritime tracker VesselFinder details that the Black Marlin is estimated to arrive on September 10 at the Port of Nueva Palmira, in Uruguay.
At this terminal, the Incat Hull 096 vessel – as named by the shipyard – will be unloaded, commissioned, and prepared to enter operation with the Buquebus company, covering the route between Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Colonia (Uruguay).
The vessel, which will be renamed China Zorrilla once it begins operation, is 130 meters long, and its capacity allows it to transport up to 2,100 passengers and 225 vehicles.
Incat Chairman, Robert Clifford, stated that "Hull 096 has been the largest and most ambitious project in our company's history, and its departure is a testament to the skill, dedication, and innovation of our entire workforce. I want to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to this extraordinary achievement. Thousands of people have participated in the creation of this magnificent vessel, and all of them should feel incredibly proud of what has been accomplished."
