The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency received a report of an incident 60 nautical miles east of Muscat, Oman. The captain of a tanker reported an external explosion on the port side, towards the stern and near the waterline.
"The crew and vessel are safe, although the captain reports that some residual fuel (bunker) has spilled into the sea. Authorities are investigating," the entity stated.
Following the incident, UKMTO advised vessels to "transit with caution and report any suspicious activity."
From February 28, 2026, to date, the agency has received 52 reports of incidents affecting vessels operating in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman, as well as their surrounding areas.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that of the total reports, 28 correspond to attacks, 22 to activity warnings, and two are linked to hijackings.
