Viking will expand its ocean cruises for Chinese-speakers to Northern Europe in April 2027, immediately following Viking Yidun's maiden Mediterranean season.
Multiple departures of two 15-day "Viking Nordic Discovery" itineraries between Oslo and Stockholm are offered. One starts with an overnight in Oslo before sailing to Norway's Kristiansund, Bergen, Eidfjord and Stavanger then overnighting in Copenhagen. The cruise continues to the Danish island of Bornholm then Gdansk (Poland), Klaipeda (Lithuania), Riga (Latvia) and Stockholm (overnight).
The itinerary also operates from Stockholm to Oslo, and two departure dates add a stop at Gothenburg.
Viking China will also introduce land-tour extensions in Oslo, Stockholm and Reykjavik.
A 14-day Lisbon to Oslo repositioning voyage is offered along the Atlantic coast.
Viking Yidun is currently sailing its first 60-day trans-continental voyage that started in Shanghai in early June and and is planned to arrive in Barcelona in early August to begin the Mediterranean season.
The ship will continue to operate Chinese-language Mediterranean voyages during the winter of 2027 and offer more than 10 combinatiion ocean voyages, including a 60-day journey from Piraeus to Stockholm visiting 40 destinations in 18 countries.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Mediterranean cruises, from August to March, vary from eight to 22 days across Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey, France, Monaco, Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia.
More than 100,000 Chinese have traveled with Viking, making China an important source market for the company, according to Brendan Tansey, managing director of Viking China.
The 930-passenger Viking Yidun provides Chinese-language signage, entertainment systems, hotel services and shore assistance, as well as Chinese electrical outlets, kettles and a mix of Chinese and Western food.
