Scylla announced a comprehensive leadership reshuffle, with CFO Robbert Verbeek appointed as the new CEO, succeeding Arno Reitsma.
Verbeek, who has served as CFO since March 2017, will take operational control as both Arno Reitsma and his brother Robert step back from day-to-day management to concentrate on strategic development and international expansion.
The new CEO joined Scylla in 2016 after five years advising the family business as a client during his tenure at a leading business law firm.
Arno Reitsma explained the reasoning behind the transition: "Scylla is experiencing an exceptional yet demanding phase of growth. The river cruise market is scaling at a remarkable pace and has long evolved beyond a niche tourism segment. We know that Robbert Verbeek is the right person to provide our organisation with the structure and stability required to support this growth. My brother Robert and I are handing over operational leadership and look forward to focusing on strategy and expansion from our positions on the board."
He added: "This decision has been strategically planned and implemented at an early stage of our international growth journey to ensure the continuation of our successful course. As executive chairmen, my brother Robert and I will remain closely involved with the company and continue to uphold Scylla's strong family culture. Personally, I will continue to play a highly active role within Scylla."
Verbeek expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment: "Scylla has an outstanding reputation and I am grateful to the Reitsma family for their trust. After recently celebrating my 10th anniversary with the company, I'm excited to take on operational leadership at a time when demand continues to grow. Together with our exceptional team and valued partners, I look forward to accelerating our growth while preserving the quality, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit that define Scylla."
Supporting Verbeek on the executive management team are Rainer Büttner as COO and Daniel Schäfer as CCO. Earlier this month, Raymon Berkhout joined the line as strategic nautical consultant.
Stefan De Schepper has been appointed as the new CFO. De Schepper currently serves as CFO of VIVA Cruises and will retain this position alongside his new responsibilities.
De Schepper said: "The next phase of international growth and fleet development for our group requires strategic and scalable processes to successfully continue our future-oriented course."
De Schepper joined Scylla in 2018 as group financial controller and later served as group finance director.
