Oceania Cruises has expanded its portfolio of Wellness Discovery Tours, offering more than 50 shore experiences across Asia, Europe and South America as growing numbers of luxury travellers seek wellness-focused travel combined with cultural immersion.
The cruise line's collection of small-group excursions is designed to introduce guests to traditional healing practices, mindfulness activities and local customs through experiences ranging from yoga and tai chi to thermal bathing, dance therapy and healthy culinary programmes. According to Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises, the company views travel as an opportunity to support personal wellbeing by encouraging guests to slow down, engage with different cultures and return home with new perspectives. He indicated that the Wellness Discovery Tours were created to combine relaxation, learning and exploration while reflecting the evolving expectations of luxury travellers.
The shoreside experiences are complemented by an onboard enrichment programme available across Oceania Cruises' boutique, adults-only ships. Guests can participate in culinary demonstrations, hands-on cooking classes, wine and food pairing sessions, creative workshops in the Artist Loft, lectures from guest speakers and performances by local musicians, providing additional opportunities for cultural engagement throughout each voyage.
Among the featured Wellness Discovery Tours is a traditional Kandyan dance therapy programme in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where guests participate in one of the country's best-known cultural traditions as a form of physical activity and stress relief. In Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, travellers can sample organic teas and vegetarian cuisine while learning about the country's tea culture from local specialists.
In Bangkok, Thailand, guests are offered the opportunity to practise tai chi in Viharn Sien Park, while a second tai chi experience in northern Vietnam combines mindful movement with a vegetarian lunch at a Buddhist monastery on Yen Tu Mountain.
European itineraries include a wellness walk along the cliffs near Bilbao, Spain, incorporating the Basque fishing village of Getxo, as well as a visit to the historic Terme dei Papi thermal baths near Civitavecchia, Italy. Another Italian excursion explores the volcanic thermal pools near Naples, combining traditional spa experiences with the region's natural landscapes.
In Santorini, Greece, guests can take part in a yoga session overlooking the caldera before visiting a local winery to sample the island's distinctive wines.
Additional experiences include consultations with practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine in Hong Kong, where guests can learn about therapies such as acupuncture and cupping, and a Patagonian excursion from Puerto Chacabuco, Chile, featuring a catamaran cruise through the Aysén Fjord to the remote Ensenada Perez Hot Springs.
Oceania Cruises continues to position its Wellness Discovery Tours as an extension of its destination-focused cruise programme, combining cultural experiences, wellness activities and local traditions with the line's emphasis on personalised service, destination-intensive itineraries and culinary experiences across voyages ranging from 7 to 180 days.
