Global Ports Holding launched its Next-Gen Program across its network of 35 cruise ports in 20 countries.
The initiative launched in connection with the International Day of the Seafarer held on June 25. GPH ports worldwide welcomed students for terminal visits, industry presentations, operational briefings, and ship tours designed to showcase career opportunities at sea and ashore.
Since the program's launch earlier this year, GPH ports have welcomed more than 350 students through educational activities, providing insight into the cruise and maritime industry and its career opportunities.
The program offers participants exposure to terminal management, passenger flow, port infrastructure, maritime technology, security, passenger services, and daily coordination required during cruise calls. Students observe port operations during ship days to understand the systems and services that deliver passenger and crew experiences.
Mehmet Kutman, chairman & CEO at Global Ports Holding, said: "Today, we celebrate the dedication of seafarers around the world, both within GPH and across our global network. Our Next-Gen Program represents our commitment to the future by opening our ports and providing students with immersive, real-world exposure to the maritime industry.
"The sector offers a wide range of rewarding careers, both at sea and ashore. Through the Next-Gen Program, we are helping young people understand the opportunities available and encouraging them to consider a future in our industry."
The initiative showcases career paths within cruise and maritime sectors, including port operations, engineering, logistics, hospitality, safety and security, destination management, sustainability, technology, and shoreside services.
By opening ports to students and working with cruise lines, GPH said it aims to build a talent pipeline for the global cruise market. Attracting and developing talent remains essential for supporting future growth, innovation and operational performance across the industry
