12 thousand tons of genetically unmodified (Non-GMO) soybean meal were shipped to Denmark aboard the vessel Eco Crossfire. The operation, carried out at the Port of Concepción del Uruguay, was the first to involve production entirely harvested and industrialized in the province of Entre Ríos, Argentina.
The Provincial Minister of Economic Development, Guillermo Bernaudo, stated that "this operation is very important for the province from a port perspective. We are very happy to see this terminal with increasing activity, especially specialized operations like this one, which requires international certifications."
The business is being carried out by the Argentine Cooperatives Association (ACA), together with Entre Ríos Crushing; and the Danish cooperative DLG Agro.
"Furthermore, from a general production standpoint, having the only Non-GMO line exported from Argentina; produced from seed to milling, transportation, and international loading, is a source of pride for our province," he added.
For his part, the Commercial Manager of Entre Ríos Crushing, Martín Erdozain, indicated that "for us, this is the beginning of the journey. After many years of hard work, where we went through a difficult process, we maintain that the company was reborn in a joint project with ACA and other foreign partners."
The Head of the Entre Ríos Branch of ACA, Gabriel Carpenco, specified that "This is a very important project, which we started a few years ago and it seemed crazy to us to plant Non-GMO soybeans. We are partners of Entre Ríos Crushing, and when we proposed it to be an Entre Ríos project, we proudly managed to have the milling done in Gualeguaychú; and today we were able to close the operation at the Port of Concepción del Uruguay."
The President of the Port of Concepción del Uruguay Entity, Marcos Di Giuseppe, pointed out, for his part, that "this operation constitutes the starting point of a long-term project that includes an investment exceeding 400,000 dollars for the adaptation of port infrastructure, along with a progressive growth plan for shipments over the next ten years, to which is added the possibility of incorporating exports of balanced feed destined for the Caribbean."
"The planned investments and the adaptation of the infrastructure consolidate the Port of Concepción del Uruguay as the only public port in Entre Ríos that meets the conditions required by international GMP+ regulations for exporting this type of merchandise to Europe. This positions it as a strategic terminal for the commercialization of differentiated products and strengthens the competitiveness of the provincial port system," he concluded.
