In an unprecedented operation for national port activity, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) reported that the Port of Callao received nearly 6,000 vehicles transported in a single large-scale vessel from Asia, marking the largest unload of vehicular units arriving at once in the country.
Thus, the North dock of Callao sets a new record in the movement of rolling cargo, consolidating the capacity of the main Peruvian port to handle large-scale operations in response to the increased demand for vehicles in the local market. This performance also strengthens the automotive sector, one of the country's main import categories.
It is worth noting that, between 2025 and 2026, vehicle movement at the North dock grew by nearly 28%, driven by increased commercial dynamism between Asia and Peru.
Logistical Efficiency
The unloading of the units required a specialized logistical operation that included planning, real-time coordination, yard management, staggered withdrawal scheduling, and process synchronization to ensure the fluidity of the operation.
Because it is sensitive cargo, each vehicle was handled under strict security protocols, with specialized personnel, permanent monitoring, and international standards aimed at preserving the integrity of the units throughout the process.
With this operation, the MTC, through the National Port Authority (APN), reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the national port system, in order to consolidate Peru as a strategic hub in the region, boost foreign trade, and facilitate high-impact operations for key sectors of the national economy.
