MPC Container Ships Christens Methanol-Powered DP World Southampton

MPC Container Ships ASA announced that it celebrated the christening ceremony of the DP World Southampton, its new vessel with a dual-fuel engine ready to use methanol. The ship, which is 148 meters long and 27 meters wide, will enter service under a seven-year time charter contract with DP World for deployment in Northern Europe.

The company highlighted that "its dual-fuel engine with methanol capability and shore power connection significantly reduce emissions compared to conventional vessels, marking another step in the transition of our fleet towards more climate-friendly ships and our commitment to the decarbonization of maritime transport."
