Maersk Diverts Containers to Serbia Due to Congestion at Port of Rijeka

The shipping company Maersk reported that due to high congestion at the Port of Rijeka (Croatia), some import containers destined for Belgrade (Serbia) will be diverted to the Leget Multimodal Terminal.

The company's website stated that the measure aims to "help minimize delays and improve cargo flow, some selected containers will be diverted to the Leget terminal instead of the initially planned inland terminal."

It was also specified that the objectives of the decision are: "to reduce the impact of current congestion across the network; improve container flow and equipment utilization; accelerate cargo availability and delivery in Belgrade and maintain service reliability during current operational restrictions."

Finally, it was added that "this route adjustment will not generate any additional charges and the agreed transportation price will remain unchanged. Our teams are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to select the most efficient routing options to minimize disruptions and ensure the continuity of your supply chain."
