The president of the Port Authority of Santander (APS), César Díaz, highlighted "the experience and solvency" of the Association in this type of activities and its efforts "to strengthen, through debate, the complex legal framework that regulates port activities, guaranteeing the correct development and competitiveness of our ports."
Santander, June 18, 2026. The president of the APS, César Díaz, and his counterpart at the International Association of Port Law, José Antonio Morillo-Velarde, signed a contract this morning for the dissemination of the APS's image in all activities carried out by the Association and the holding of at least one annual conference in Santander related to maritime and port law.
The agreement, which is valid for four years, amounts to forty-four thousand euros in total, and is part of the actions carried out by the APS aimed at improving its relationship with society, within its Corporate Social Responsibility policy.
In addition, this agreement is in line with the objectives of the APS's Strategic Plan 2025-2030 to promote its presence in international forums related to port-city management in all its facets.
After signing the agreement, the president of the Port Authority highlighted "the experience and solvency" of the Association in organizing this type of activities and its efforts "to strengthen, through debate, the regulations that govern port activities, guaranteeing the correct development and competitiveness of our ports."
"The complex legal framework by which we are governed requires constant analysis and debate to be able to face the challenges that arise every day in an increasingly globalized scenario. In this context, the work done by the Association is very valuable," he added.
For his part, and on behalf of the International Association of Port Law, its president "effusively" thanked the support shown by the Port Authority of Santander, which the signed sponsorship represents and which, due to its four-year duration, "allows for the establishment of a temporal projection order in the Association's activities, whose headquarters are located precisely, thanks to the hospitality of the Port Authority, in the spectacular setting of the Cerda lighthouse."
Among these activities, the Port and Maritime Law Meetings held at the Palacio de la Magdalena in Santander stand out significantly, reaching their tenth edition in 2026 and taking place on September 24 and 25.
Within this contract is the celebration of the X edition of the Maritime and Port Law Conference, which will be held in Santander on September 24 and 25.
The Meeting, organized by the International Association of Port Law, is sponsored by Puertos del Estado and the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands, as well as by the Port Authority of Santander itself, and has the collaboration of the Spanish Association of Maritime Law.
