In an unprecedented milestone for foreign trade, the automotive industry, and the Mexican logistics sector, the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas successfully welcomed the arrival of the GLOVIS LEADER, the world's largest car/vehicle carrier in its category.
The extraordinary vessel carried out its commercial operations at the Specialized Automobile Terminal operated by SSA Marine Mexico. This historic event strongly reaffirms the global competitiveness, infrastructure capacity, and strategic leadership of this port along the entire American Pacific coast.
Institutional Ceremony: Commemorative Plaque Presentation
As it was an inaugural voyage, representatives from ASIPONA Lázaro Cárdenas and SSA Marine Mexico boarded to give a warm welcome to the crew. During the official protocol, a commemorative plaque was presented to the ship's Captain, a traditional act symbolizing close commercial cooperation and celebrating the trust placed by international shipping lines in the high efficiency and security of this facility.
Dock Operations Report
During its maneuvering cycle at the dock of the Specialized Automobile Terminal (TEA II), a highly dynamic and efficient flow in unit handling was recorded. In this operation, the import of heavy cargo (machinery) and vehicles of the BYD and Ford brands was managed, as well as the export of KIA, NISSAN, and GM units. The success of the maneuver confirms the solid logistical capacity installed in the port and the optimal performance of personnel and equipment on the dock, managing to minimize the vessel's stay times.
The success of this complex maneuver was possible thanks to the privileged natural and technical characteristics of the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas. Recognized as the deepest port in all of Mexico, its access channels and basins offer the competitive advantages and necessary drafts to safely receive monumental vessels.
Sustainable Innovation and Vessel Specifications
The Glovis Leader, commercially operated by the prestigious South Korean firm Hyundai Glovis Co., Ltd., stands out not only for its large dimensions but also for its cutting-edge eco-efficient design (Dual-Fuel propulsion with liquefied natural gas and EcoEGR systems), which significantly minimizes its carbon footprint on transoceanic routes.
According to its official technical specifications (Ship's Particulars), the vessel has the following characteristics:
With this event, the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas and ASIPONA send a strong signal to international markets: the port is not only a key gateway for trade with Asia and Latin America but also boasts the infrastructure of the future, fully prepared to lead the demands of the latest generation of merchant marine.
