A new and enthusiastic day of community engagement took place at the facilities of the Port of Iquique, thanks to the visit of a delegation of 40 third and fourth-year high school students, specializing in Administration, from Liceo Los Cóndores, hailing from the commune of Alto Hospicio.
The activity is part of the institutional campaign "Live Your Port," an initiative that seeks to open the doors of the port facility to various educational establishments to showcase firsthand its strategic and logistical value as a pillar of economic activity for the Tarapacá Region.
During the tour, the students were able to learn firsthand about port operations, cargo movement, and the terminal's impact on regional economic development. This enriching experience was made possible through joint coordination with the high school team, led by the coordinator and teacher of the Technical Professional area, Francisco Ponce.
The visit held special significance for the students preparing in the Administration specialty, who were able to directly link their classroom learning with the numerous processes and activities carried out within a port facility.
Bárbara Mora, a 4th-year student from Liceo Los Cóndores, valued the opportunity, highlighting that "the visit was very entertaining because it helps us to find out and understand the importance of the Port of Iquique, its connection with Chile, with other countries, and the importance it represents in developing foreign trade. Furthermore, it was also very interesting to learn about these processes, as we are business administration technicians, and this knowledge will constantly help us relate to our studies."
With this milestone, the "Live Your Port" campaign reaffirms the continuous commitment of the Port of Iquique to local education and the training of future technicians and professionals from the Province and the commune of Alto Hospicio.
