With a sustained increase in the compliance levels of participating companies, which reached 73% in 2025, TPS Valparaíso is launching the fourth version of its Supplier Development Program, an initiative that seeks to improve the competitiveness and sustainability standards of contractors and companies with a high operational presence in the port terminal.
15 organizations, mostly small and medium-sized enterprises, will participate this year in the workshops included in the 2026 Supplier Development Program, which cover topics such as safety, environment, and compliance, among others.
Diana Madariaga, TPS Supply Chain Manager, explained that the program was born in 2023 as a public-private articulation, in conjunction with the Sercotec Valparaíso Business Center, "an entity that has permanently accompanied the participating companies, supporting them in strengthening their processes, procedures, and internal policies. For this year, the center will also expand its contribution through specialized workshops, including the implementation of ISO standards and other key tools for business management."
In this new edition of the program, cross-cutting workshops aimed at improving the competitiveness of companies will be incorporated, addressing areas such as strategic communication, social media management, and storytelling. "In addition, there is a strong emphasis on collaboration, integrating employees from TPS's specialist areas in the execution of workshops on topics such as safety, environment, and compliance," added Madariaga.
Throughout its previous versions, the Supplier Development Program has shown sustained progress in compliance levels.
"Since the initial diagnosis, the program has achieved a cumulative increase of 34% in the overall compliance level of suppliers, rising from 39% in 2023 to 73% in 2025. All evaluated pillars have shown significant improvements, especially Business Safety and Health, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. In the area of safety, 93% of contractor suppliers achieve evaluations above 3.0, with an average reaching 4.0 in 2025. Likewise, the program registers an average of 73% compliance in the sustainability evaluation," detailed Diana Madariaga.
Servicin's Experience
Companies from various sectors, such as transport, divers, construction, gas measurement, cleaning services, and industrial cleaning, among others, have participated in this program. Among them is Servicin, a specialist in industrial cleaning solutions, which has participated in the TPS Supplier Development Program since its inception in 2023.
Eileen Mac-Kay, Servicin's Manager, explained that the company has 22 years of experience and provides cleaning services to various industries, from mining to ports, throughout the Valparaíso Region.
"We started as TPS suppliers in 2023 and shortly after the first edition of the program began; they conducted evaluations, and gradually we realized the value of the things they taught us. We incorporated them into our management system and aligned our company around them," said Eileen.
"Now we finished at 95%, which demonstrates our growth. We created a committee in the company, and six of us participate in the program and the different workshops. We assign tasks to apply within the company and then cascade them down to the entire team," detailed the manager.
"This is a very robust and highly recommended platform for any small or medium-sized company that provides services to large companies; it has helped us a lot in presenting ourselves in tenders, responding correctly to requirements, and being more competitive. In particular, it has helped us a lot to develop in the area of documentation, policies, and standards; before, we were more reactive, now we are more organized, we have a sequence calendar, we review satisfaction surveys, etc. It is an excellent tool," adds the Servicin executive.
