Kalmar introduces the improved Kalmar T2i terminal tractor, now with greater operational efficiency thanks to its enhanced modularity and ergonomics. The vehicle, now manufactured at the company's Shanghai plant, is specifically designed for heavy industrial facilities, ports, terminals, and distribution centers in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America regions.
According to the company, the unit offers a modular platform that allows customers to configure the precise machine they need for their specific cargo flow. In this regard, three distinct lifting capacities (28, 32, or 36 tons) are available to suit different load profiles, with frames of 2,950 millimeters, 3,200 millimeters, or 3,450 millimeters to maximize maneuverability in distribution centers with limited space or in large maritime terminals.
Furthermore, the tractor also features engine options and is available with the Stage 3A version (Cummins QSB 6.7) for unregulated regions or with the Stage V version (Cummins B6.7) in markets with stricter emission standards.
The vehicle features a completely redesigned cabin with ROPS/FOPS certification and a reinforced chassis architecture. The unit includes a reinforced frame, axles, and a heavy-duty lifting boom to ensure correct performance under high-cycle loads.
Additionally, its design includes a panoramic windshield without A-pillars and curved corners, providing a clearer field of vision for safe driving. Meanwhile, internal noise levels have been reduced to 75 dB(A) to decrease operator fatigue. The driving area has a height of 1.80 meters, combined with an optional high-capacity HVAC system.
“At Kalmar, we don't just build machines; we design solutions that drive our customers' businesses. The Kalmar T2i represents our commitment to listening to the market and evolving alongside our customers. This solution offers many more safety features, more options, and the same reliability our partners expect, now backed by the efficiency and advanced capabilities of our Shanghai production line,” commented Thor Brenden, President of Terminal Tractors at Kalmar.
