Hong Kong-based container shipping and logistics company Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has announced the completion of the first green methanol bunkering aboard its first methanol dual-fuel containership the OOCL Wisdom. The press release, issued on 3 July, stated that the bunkering took place at Qingdao Port in China.

The bunkering operation was carried out just before the vessel departed on its Asia–North Europe Loop 1 (LL1) Service. The OOCL Wisdom took on 1,500 metric tonnes of green methanol prior to embarking on its maiden voyage.
The OOCL Wisdom is a Hong Kong-flagged newbuild container ship with a length of 399 metres, a beam of 61 metres, and a capacity of 24,168 TEU. It is the first in a series of seven methanol dual-fuel vessels ordered by the company.
OOCL stated that this milestone reflects its commitment to decarbonisation and that it will continue to invest in fleet modernisation and low-carbon technologies.
