ABS and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., LTD. (HHI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on a series of initiatives supporting sustainability, digital innovation, and operational resilience in the maritime and offshore sectors, with a special emphasis on accelerating the development of next-generation energy solutions.
Under the agreement, ABS and HHI will explore opportunities to support the development of solutions addressing decarbonization, digital transformation, and evolving operational requirements across the global ocean energy landscape.
"This agreement reflects our shared focus on assisting the industry with practical and forward-looking solutions. By leveraging our extensive experience in the maritime and offshore sectors, along with HHI's long-standing expertise in ocean energy and offshore engineering, we can contribute to achieving evolving operational and sustainability goals," said Matthew Tremblay, ABS Senior Vice President for Global Offshore.
The scope of cooperation covers a wide range of strategic priority areas, including the development of offshore wind energy, offshore substations, small modular reactors (SMRs), marine spaceport infrastructure, and solutions for the carbon capture and storage (CCS) value chain, along with enabling digital technologies that support sustainable operations.
