The National Environmental Certification Service for Sustainable Investments (Senace) approved operational improvements at the Matarani Port Terminal in Arequipa, through an initiative that contemplates an estimated investment exceeding one million dollars.
The entity reported that the measure was approved through Directorial Resolution N.° 00067-2026-SENACE-PE/DEIN, issued on June 17, 2026, which gives the green light to the "Supporting Technical Report (ITS) for the Inclusion of new operations in Mineral System C", presented by Terminal Internacional del Sur S.A.
According to Senace, the approval will allow the implementation of improvements in the mineral storage system C of the Matarani Port Terminal, located in the province of Islay, Arequipa region.
The modifications consider the incorporation of an infrared dryer and the inclusion of new loads, without generating an increase in the previously approved capacity for the terminal.
Likewise, the entity specified that the project has the binding favorable technical opinion of the National Water Authority (ANA).
Senace explained that the Supporting Technical Report (ITS) is an environmental management instrument required to carry out modifications or expansions that generate non-significant impacts on the environment or that involve technological improvements in investment projects.
The National Environmental Certification Service for Sustainable Investments is a public body attached to the Ministry of the Environment responsible for evaluating the environmental viability of the country's large investment projects.
