Petroperú implements operational monitoring in response to port restrictions

Petroperú participated in the Seafarers' Day ceremony, organized by the Peruvian Merchant Marine Officers' Association (Commpe), with the aim of strengthening institutional relations with key actors in the maritime and port sector.

During the event, Petroperú's Distribution Manager, Ernesto Gamarra, presented the paper "Impact on supply due to port closures," in which he explained the effects of operational restrictions on port infrastructure on the national fuel supply chain.

He explained that the recurrent closure of ports, mainly due to adverse ocean conditions, can impact the scheduling of logistical operations, generate additional costs, and affect compliance with inventory requirements mandated by current regulations, which represents a challenge for the continuity of supply.

Likewise, it was highlighted that, so far this year, operational restrictions in ports have had a significant impact on loading and unloading activities, especially in Talara, the main point of fuel supply to various areas of the country.

In this context, Petroperú permanently implements monitoring and operational planning actions, which include tracking maritime conditions using specialized tools and reprogramming vessel itineraries, with the aim of mitigating risks and ensuring timely fuel supply nationwide.

Finally, the company reaffirmed its commitment to continue strengthening coordination with institutions in the maritime sector, the Peruvian Navy, and other strategic actors, in order to contribute to the country's energy security, the development of technical capabilities, and the continuous improvement of its operations.
