MTC authorizes construction of two permanent bridges in Chancay

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through its General Directorate of Transport Programs and Projects, signed the agreement that will allow the Concessionaire Company Red Vial 5 S.A. (formerly Norvial S.A) to execute the construction of two permanent bridges, one in the North-South direction and another in the South-North direction, over the Chancay River, at km 76 of the Panamericana Norte. This work will provide a safer and more efficient connection for thousands of users.

The signing of the agreement allows progress in the necessary actions for the execution of the project, whose start is expected to be finalized as soon as possible, once budget availability and the required areas are secured. The construction will have an estimated period of 18 months.

The infrastructure will consist of two bridges, one on each roadway. Each structure will be 92 meters long and will have two lanes, shoulders, and protection works at both accesses, designed for greater safety and resistance against river conditions.

The project has the approved Definitive Engineering Study and the corresponding environmental certification. The estimated investment for its execution amounts to S/ 119 million.

Likewise, due to the damage caused to the infrastructure of the Chancay North-South Bridge and Chancay South-North Bridge, these were declared in emergency by the MTC on July 17, 2026, a provision that, within the framework of Law N° 32441 - "Law regulating the promotion of private investment through Public-Private Partnerships and Asset Projects" and its Regulations, allows for expediting actions to finalize the definitive replacement of said infrastructures.

While the new infrastructure is being developed, traffic in the area continues to be guaranteed by the two modular (Bailey type) bridges installed by the concessionaire company, which allow circulation in both directions of the road and facilitate the daily movement of more than 14,000 vehicles.

With this intervention, the MTC continues to promote the recovery of the country's strategic road infrastructure, with the aim of providing citizens with safer and more efficient transit.
