Emergency Fuel Surcharge - Trade from Northern Europe (inc. UK and Scanbaltic) to Red Sea and East Africa

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company announced an Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS) update for cargo routes from Northern Europe (including UK and Scanbaltic) to Red Sea and East Africa, effective from 1st June 2026 (BL date) until 15th June 2026. The surcharge ranges from USD 140 to USD 485 per TEU depending on trade route and cargo type (DRY or REEFER), responding to Middle East disruptions that increased marine fuel prices globally and reduced bunker fuel availability at traditional sourcing locations.
