Ships Carrying Humanitarian Aid Continue to Arrive in Cuba
Mexico, Belize, and Colombia continue sending humanitarian aid to Cuba with increasing frequency. The Chinese-owned cargo ship Asian Katra (10,300 dwt) made its second delivery to Havana on June 7, carrying 1,700 tons of food and supplies from Mexico and Belize. Colombia's Presidential Agency for Cooperation is sending 100 tons of aid, while China has promised 60,000 tons of rice. However, fuel shipments remain curtailed, and the UN warns of a growing humanitarian crisis affecting Cuba's 9.6 million people.
