France Quarantines Cruise Ship Due to Reports of GI Virus Aboard
French authorities quarantined the cruise ship Ambition (48,200 gross tons) in Bordeaux on Wednesday after up to 50 passengers and one crewmember reported gastrointestinal symptoms. The ship, operated by Ambassador Cruise Line, departed Belfast on May 8 and embarked additional passengers in Liverpool on May 9, with cases peaking on May 11 while in Brest. Initial tests were negative for norovirus, but further testing was underway and food poisoning was not ruled out.
