The new Navarra Intermodal Terminal, located in Noáin, was inaugurated after completing a project that involved an investment of ten million euros (USD 11.4 million) to triple the dry port's capacity to 42,000 square meters.
In addition, the work allowed for the construction of two new railway tracks, each 550 meters long, with a new, larger esplanade for railway operations and container storage.
Since its commissioning in 2013, the logistics facility has gone from having one weekly rail connection to five regular frequencies with the Port of Barcelona, operated by Synergy, the railway operator of the Hutchison Ports group, specialized in intermodal freight transport.
Hutchison Ports Best, Barcelona's main container terminal, was granted a concession by Adif in September 2024 for the operation of the Navarra Intermodal Terminal for the next fifteen years, with the determination to make an investment of around 10 million euros, financed by the European Commission's Next Generation funds, for the improvement and expansion of the Noáin railway facility.
The President of the Government of Navarra, María Chivite Navascués, highlighted that the new facility offers "opportunities for companies for both their competitiveness and their internationalization plans, reduction of logistics costs, and decarbonization."
The authority added that "it is a commitment to sustainable mobility, territorial structuring, and a new vision for logistics that opens up a framework of possibilities not only present but also future."
According to Chivite, the challenge now "is to significantly increase the percentage of goods transported by train, reaching 10% by 2030, an objective we share with the Government of Spain and its Freight Plan."
"Administrations, railway operators and shippers, companies, we are in dialogue and working together to continue attracting investments and improving infrastructure, capacities, and competitiveness," affirmed the President of Navarra.
Chivite expressed that the Noáin terminal "is another step in our development as a community, but we do not want it to be the last in this area. We are already working to have another terminal in La Ribera that adds capacity, competitiveness, and structuring to our community and our companies."

The expansion of the terminal will allow us to continue supporting the growth of companies in the region and consolidate a logistics infrastructure capable of boosting their competitiveness in international markets.
