On Monday, August 3rd, TCP, the company that manages the Paranaguá Container Terminal, reached the milestone of 1 million TEU handled during the year. This achievement was reached 10 days earlier than anticipated in 2025 and reflects the growth in operations, which increased by 4% compared to the previous year.
The one-millionth container was moved during the operation of the vessel Valor, from the shipping company MSC, which is 300 meters long (LOA) and 48 meters wide (SN), and operates on the route connecting Brazil with Europe.
"This result is a clear demonstration of TCP's commitment to efficiency and operational capacity to absorb the growing market demand in cargo handling. Investments in infrastructure and machinery, along with the professional excellence and dedication of our employees, were fundamental to reaching this milestone ahead of schedule. The terminal continues on this path to close 2026 with the best result in its history," commented Fabio Mattos, Commercial Manager of TCP.
The record of 1 million TEU was reached just after the close of July, when TCP moved 147,900 TEU, its best monthly result in 2026 and a volume 5% higher than the 140,900 TEU moved in July 2025.
One of the highlights of the operations was the increase in the movement of refrigerated containers (reefer), primarily used for the transport of meat and frozen products, which rose 10% in the comparison between January and July, going from 80,300 in 2025 to 88,400 in 2026.
By the end of July, TCP had registered the passage of 379,000 containers through its terrestrial access routes and 62,000 containers by rail, with the operation of 774 trains. The Paranaguá Container Terminal is the only one in southern Brazil that has a direct connection between a secondary railway line and the operational area.
At the quay, the terminal received 597 vessels. TCP is the main maritime services hub among the country's port terminals, with 22 regular weekly lines, including coastal and long-distance routes, connecting Paranaguá with America, Africa, Europe, and Asia.
The trade balance is mainly determined by the meat and automotive sectors.
In the seven months of 2026, TCP transported 4.913 million tons of cargo, a performance 10% higher than the 4.465 million tons recorded in the same period of the previous year. This result was mainly due to exports of meat and frozen products, which soared from 2.047 million tons to 2.344 million tons, a volume driven by increased shipments of chicken and pork.
The paper and pulp segment also grew by 9%, reaching 623,000 tons this year, while in 2025 the volume was 569,000 tons.
Regarding imports, the automotive sector led the way, driven by the boom in the electric vehicle market and the arrival of parts and components, totaling 346,000 tons in 2026, a volume 8% higher than the 319,000 tons of the previous year.
