Corazul Cruceros has cancelled its planned Mediterranean debut with the Buenavista and will instead launch its first commercial season in Brazil in 2026-27. Cruise Industry News reported earlier this week the company was facing challenges in its planned start up.
All European departures scheduled for 2026 will be cancelled as a result, the company said. Operations were slated to start in early July with the Buenavista, which is currently sailing as the Piano Land in Asia.
Corazul said the decision followed a review of global market trends and distribution data that pointed to South America as the stronger market for its launch. The brand cited an exceptionally strong response from the Brazilian travel trade, with local demand running well ahead of initial projections, alongside a favorable competitive landscape in key regional segments.
Concentrating its fleet in Brazil from the outset offered the most effective path to long-term value for the brand, its international guests and its global distribution network, the company said.
The line also framed the move as a way to sidestep a saturated European market and shifting geopolitical conditions in the Mediterranean, reallocating capacity to what it called higher-yield regions.
Corazul said it would contact guests holding confirmed reservations individually through their booking agents. Affected travelers will be offered the option to transfer their bookings to the new Brazilian itineraries or receive a full refund of the cruise fare paid to Corazul.
Evaluation of itineraries and fleet deployment options for the 2027 European season is currently underway, Corazul said.
