Camport supports Valparaíso Port concession without limits on vertical integration
The Maritime and Port Chamber supported the future concession of the Port of Valparaíso without restrictions on vertical integration. APM Terminals, Terminal Investment Limited, and Hanseatic Global Terminals—the port arms of Maersk, MSC, and Hapag-Lloyd—requested the Competition Defense Tribunal to eliminate these restrictions. Daniel Fernández, president of Camport, argued that vertical integration is common in global ports and that effective oversight is more important than ex-ante restrictions.
