South Korea Says Attack on Ship in Strait of Hormuz Likely Involved an Iranian Missile
South Korea's Foreign Ministry announced on May 27 that an attack on the bulk carrier Namu, operated by local shipper HMM in the Strait of Hormuz on May 4, likely involved an Iranian anti-ship missile. The government investigation found debris indicating the objects were made in Iran, with engines similar to turbojet engines and warheads resembling those used in Iranian anti-ship missiles Noor or Qader. Seoul will summon the Iranian ambassador to deliver a protest message and demand responsible measures to prevent similar incidents.
