Maersk Center Downsizes Amidst Uncertainty on Path to Decarbonization
The Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping has reduced its headcount by approximately 30 percent amidst uncertainty about shipping's green transition timeline. Chief technology officer Torben Nørgaard is departing to join a commercial venture. CEO Bo Cerup-Simonsen stated the center is refocusing on technical research and regulatory support. The organization has lost several commercial sponsors since early 2025, though 18 core sponsors remain committed.
