Hantavirus-Hit Cruise Ship Reaches Rotterdam
The Dutch-flagged MV Hondius docked at Rotterdam on May 18 after a hantavirus outbreak killed three people aboard. The ship carried around 150 passengers and crew from 23 countries when severe respiratory illnesses were first reported to WHO on May 2. Eight confirmed and two probable cases were recorded. Authorities disembarked 25 crew members and two medical staff, with the vessel to be disinfected by a specialized company over up to a week.
