U.S. Warns Ships Ignoring Orders in Hormuz May Be Treated as Threats
The Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) issued two critical maritime security advisories on Thursday warning commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz that non-compliance with U.S. military instructions may result in being treated as hostile targets. The warnings accompany expanded U.S. Navy operations and enforcement of a blockade on Iranian ports, with the regional maritime threat level maintained at CRITICAL. Mariners must coordinate transits via the NCAGS program, maintain VHF Channel 16 watch, and keep 30 nautical miles distance from U.S. naval units.
