US Disables Iranian Crude Oil Tanker Attempting to Breach Blockade
US Central Command announced on May 6 that it had disabled the Iranian-flagged tanker Hasna in the Gulf of Oman for attempting to violate the US blockade against Iran. An F/A-18 Super Hornet aircraft launched from the USS Abraham Lincoln used its 20mm cannon to disable the tanker's rudder after the vessel failed to comply with multiple radio warnings. The Hasna, built in 2003 with a gross tonnage of 160,930, can no longer proceed to Iran under its own power.
