SAAM announced the definitive closing of the transaction for the purchase of the remaining 30% of Intertug's companies operating in Colombia and Mexico. In this way, the company reached 100% ownership of these subsidiaries.
"This is a key step in our growth strategy for 2030. With the closing of this transaction, we consolidate our leadership in the region. Our goal is to expand our geographical presence under an efficient, flexible, and sustainable operating model, which stands out for its excellence in an industry crucial for global trade," said SAAM's General Manager, Hernán Gómez.
The operation, which involved an investment of USD 30.5 million and had been announced last October, was finalized after meeting the stipulated deadlines and obtaining the corresponding regulatory approvals.
SAAM entered Intertug's ownership in 2021 with the initial purchase of 70%, a milestone that marked its entry into the Colombian market and complemented its presence in Mexico.
Through its SAAM Towage division, the company currently operates one of the most important tugboat networks in the world, with a fleet exceeding 200 tugboats distributed in more than 90 ports across the Americas.
Annually, these vessels perform over 155,000 maneuvers, providing critical support to various types of ships (container ships, oil tankers, bulk carriers, Ro-Ro, and LNG vessels), in addition to providing specialized services in offshore exploration and the development of natural gas terminals.
