Asia-Mexico Freights Reach $6,500 per FEU Before Correcting

The EAX index by Eternity Group Mexico recorded highs of $6,500 per FEU in June on the Asia-Mexico and West Coast of South America route, driven by a capacity deficit of 24,000 TEU. A subsequent injection of 42,000 TEU led to a correction towards $5,000. The delivery of 183,089 TEU in new vessels opens prospects for tariff stabilization in July, close to $4,000 per FEU.
