With an investment of 30.5 million dollars (mdd), SAAM, a company focused on towage services in America, announced the definitive closing of the transaction for the purchase of the remaining 30% of Intertug's companies operating in Colombia and Mexico.
With the operation, the company reached 100% ownership of these subsidiaries, representing a key step in SAAM's growth strategy for 2030.
Through a statement, SAAM recalled that this transaction had been announced in October 2025 and was finalized after meeting the stipulated deadlines and obtaining the corresponding regulatory approvals.
"With the closing of this transaction, we consolidate our leadership in the region. Our goal is to expand geographical presence under an an efficient, flexible, and sustainable operational model, which stands out for its excellence in an industry key to global trade," highlighted Hernán Gómez, SAAM's General Manager.
SAAM entered Intertug's ownership in 2021 with the initial purchase of 70%, which marked its entry into the Colombian market and complemented its presence in Mexico.
Currently, through its SAAM Towage division, the company operates one of the most important towage networks in the world, with a fleet exceeding 200 tugboats distributed in more than 90 ports in America.
Annually, these vessels perform more than 155,000 operations, providing critical support to various types of ships (container ships, oil tankers, bulk carriers, Ro-Ro, and liquefied natural gas vessels), in addition to providing specialized services in offshore exploration and the development of natural gas terminals.
SAAM Towage has been present in the Mexican market since 1997, where it operates in seven ports: Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán; Altamira and Tampico, in Tamaulipas; Tuxpan and Veracruz, in Veracruz; Dos Bocas, Tabasco (Offshore); and Topolobampo, Sinaloa.
In the country, the firm has more than 350 employees and offers port towage services, assistance services in terminals for the construction of marine structures and platforms, among other port services.
